Tips For Packing Up Your Bedroom
Your bedroom may a lot of stuff to move or very little. In either case when it times come to move it all must be packed up and ready to go to the new house or apartment. The first step is always to assess your situation and determine what is staying and what is going. Your main items to move in your bedroom will most likely be your clothing. You may not want to use up a large portion of your moving boxes on clothes, so feel free to utilize whatever suitcases, duffel bags, laundry bags, and the like. This will keep you from wasting storage space in the moving truck with empty luggage and will leave you more room for other items.
If you have a collection of books to move, sort them out by size and pack them together. Find strong durable boxes and pack the books upright with the pages of the pointing to the outside and the spines in the middle. Any empty space can be filled with newspaper or other packing material. Seal the box and it is ready to go. It is always a good idea to label your boxes as to what they are.
Any fragile items like music boxes and jewelry boxes should be wrapped in padding and stored in a well-padded box. Keep everything in the box tightly together with padding to prevent movement.
If you are taking your bed with you, the mattress and box spring can be loaded onto the moving truck. Store them vertically and cover them with sheet or other covering to help keep them clean. The frame and head/foot boards will need to be dismantled and stored together on the truck as well.
