Tips For Moving a Swing Set To a New Home
If you are moving to a new home, you may want to bring your kids swing set with you. Chances are it was a big investment of time and money on your part, so you don’t want to let it go to waste. If the set was something you created yourself, you should remember how it comes apart. If you bought it at a store, then hopefully you still have the instructions. In either case you will need to dismantle the set as much as you can, so that it can be stored for a move to a new location.
If cement footers ground your Swing Set, you will have to dig them out of the ground and either take them as is with the set, or keep them and reuse them in the new location. This will totally be up to you and probably depend on the size of the footers. If they are already large, it may be a lot of extra weight to move. And in that case it may be better to break them off and start with a fresh concrete slab when you relocate the Swing Set. Breaking up solid concrete can be a difficult task, but not so bad if you have some powerful tools. You could try a sledgehammer, but that could take awhile to work. Your best bet would be to use an air hammer or jack hammer. If you don’t have one, you could rent one or borrow from someone who does. When breaking off the cement, be careful not to damage the legs of the Swing Set.
When you break down the set and pack it up keep everything in order so that you know where it goes. After getting the set rebuilt in its new location, you will have to dig some holes for new cement footers. Pour the new slabs and set the swing set into them appropriately. Once all is said and done, you and your kids will be happy.
