Time To Clean Out The Garage
Moving is one of the best times to downscale your collection of stuff. As most of us know, as time goes on, a good portion of your stuff will collect in your garage. Old and unused items will gather in boxes and be piled up on the shelves and rafters. It can cost you a good amount of money to transport all of this stuff to your new home, but if you don’t use it now, you probably won’t use it there.
This is the time to go through those old boxes of Christmas decorations. Determine what you do use regularly and what you will be able to use in your new place. All of the stuff you don’t use or won’t be able to use should go to your yard sale or goodwill pile. This approach can be taken to many of the things in your garage. You probably have some exercise equipment lying around too. Weights can add a lot of extra weight to your moving truck, so you have to consider that extra cost of moving them versus the cost of buying new weight at your new location.
The next collection to go through is the yard tools. Chances are you have accumulated a small set of lawn mowers, edger, weed whacker, etc. These of course are bulky items that take up a lot of moving truck space. If you are moving to a place with little to no lawn, it may be time to get rid of the extra mowers and go down to one main unit. Use the same methodology to sort through the other hand held lawn care tool. Go through your set of pruners, hedge clippers, tree trimmers, etc. Just think about what you will need in your new home.
