I need to move, should you hire movers or move everything myself?
I’m sure many people have had that question on their mind at one point or another. But ultimately it is up to you and how much work you want to do on your move.
And as the saying goes “the Devil is in the details”, all the factors of your move will determine on whether or not you can just move everything yourself, or hire a moving company.
The distance is one of the main deciding factors. If you’re just moving across town or somewhere relatively close , it may be easier to opt for moving everything yourself in a number of trips, or rent a moving truck. If you are moving to a farther location, multiple trips may not be feasible or economical. In that case, you may want to consider movers.
There is also the factor of liability. If you move everything yourself and something gets broken, the cost is solely on you. But if you use movers there may be some insurance on the items they are transporting. It is still a bad situation when stuff gets broken, but this way you get a little compensation. Then you could argue with yourself about would the item have gotten broken if you moved it yourself, and just boggle your mind.
How much work do you want to do? Do you want to pack stuff and load it up on a truck or in your car? People who don’t want the stress and hassle will just hire a moving company to do everything for them. It’s all about the kind of person you are, and what your budget is.
There is also the quantity of items you need to move. If you’re just changing apartments, you may not have much to move and you could probably handle the job with some buddies. If you’re moving houses , you probably have a great deal of stuff from multiple rooms and would probably want a moving truck or to hire movers.
